A 3-year-old Minex Kimora was shot dead by a soldier in the early hours of Thursday, October 14, as she was heading to school in a vehicle.
The incident led to an uproar as gunshots erupted in several parts of Molyko, a neighbourhood in Buea, South West Region of Cameroon.
The gendarme officer reportedly opened fire on the vehicle in a checkpoint and the bullet penetrated the back, killing the child.

Report gathered stated that Kimora’s mum was on her way to school to drop her daughter when she was accosted by a gendarme officer but before she could pack her car, he opened fire on her.
One of the bullets penetrated the back screen, killing the child in the process.
According to eyewitnesses, the officer had demanded a 500F ($1) bribe from the mother of the girl but she refused to give him the money.
Citizens within the vicinity were provoked by the death of the child that they bounced on the officer and killed him. Following the killing of the officer, they marched down to the Governor’s office with the body of the child.
