Governor of Borno state, Babagana Zulum was involved in a fatal accident alongside his convoy on Tuesday, leaving at least two people dead.
Sources say the accident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday while the governor was on his way to Maiduguri, the Borno state capital.
Zulum was reportedly returning from Mafa local government area where he had gone to revalidate his membership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the ongoing members registration exercise.

A high ranking traditional ruler, Mai-Kanuribe is said to be one of the victims of the accident.
A police source say the vehicle conveying the Mai-Kanuribe, a district head of Borno in Lagos, somersaulted after a tyre deflated, leading to his death and that of another passenger.
Other injured victims were rushed to the hospital while corpses of the deceased persons were taken to Maiduguri.
