A prominent traditional ruler in Delta State, His Majesty, King Monday Arthur Whiskey, the Ovie of Idjerhe Kingdom, has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to confer a national honour on High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, for his relentless efforts in curbing oil theft in the Niger Delta region.

Speaking at a press conference in his palace in Idjerhe, the monarch lauded Tompolo’s leadership of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, a private surveillance company contracted by the federal government to protect the country’s oil pipelines.

According to King Whiskey, Tompolo’s work has significantly contributed to Nigeria’s oil production recovery, reversing the previously devastating decline in output caused by oil theft.

“Tompolo deserves a national award for the outstanding achievements he has made in combating crude oil theft and restoring national oil production,” King Whiskey stated.

King Whiskey emphasized that Tompolo had taken it upon himself to challenge powerful oil theft syndicates, many of whom had conspired with former security agents.

The monarch noted that Tompolo’s work has not only boosted oil production but also brought positive environmental impacts, with aquatic life gradually returning to polluted waterways in the region.

“The oil thieves had long exploited the country’s resources, but Tompolo has singlehandedly fought these criminals. His leadership has brought Nigeria back from the brink of disaster,” King Whiskey remarked.

Tompolo’s Tantita Security Services, according to the monarch, has helped to improve the livelihoods of youth in the Niger Delta, providing much-needed employment opportunities and exposing the region’s young people to modern, high-tech security systems.

King Whiskey urged the federal government to expand the scope of Tantita’s contract, which he believes has been pivotal to the ongoing success.

“Tompolo’s security contract has not only enhanced oil production but has also contributed to environmental restoration and youth empowerment in the region,” King Whiskey said.

He called on President Tinubu to recognize Tompolo’s exceptional contributions by awarding him a national honour.
