Adelaide 36ers Sack Former NBA Star Montrezl Harrell After Drug Test

The club only announced the result two months later, after he re-signed with Adelaide.

The 36ers confirmed Harrell now faces a provisional ban and cannot train or play.

“As it stands, Harrell is not permitted to train or play,” – the club said.

With no clear timeline for the China Anti-Doping Agency to finish its process, Adelaide acted quickly to protect its roster and competitiveness as the NBL season gets under way.

China’s anti-doping authority will decide any final penalty once its procedures end.

Meanwhile, Harrell confronts the prospect of an official sanction and the usual appeals process that follows positive tests in international competition.

Montrezl Harrell built his reputation in the NBA with the Los Angeles Clippers and later played with the Lakers and Wizards.

Though Montrezl Harrell is famous for his muscular play and intensity, he now has a difficult time getting back into the professional basketball scene while the temporary ban is in effect.
