Morayo Brown Shares Struggle With Depression and Career Crossroads

Nigerian TV personality Morayo Afolabi-Brown has opened up about her battle with depression, revealing that she once contemplated ending her life.

In a candid conversation with Chude, Brown, who recently stepped down as host of TVC’s Your View after 12 years, said the feeling of being stuck professionally fueled her mental health struggles.

“I was depressed. At a point, I was suicidal. I walked on the express, hoping a car would hit me. It was that bad,” she admitted.

She further explained that she had long thought about leaving the show to pursue new opportunities but was uncertain about how to take the next step. “It was when we [TVC] were ten years that I knew that it was time [for me] to go to the next thing. I have been harbouring that thought for a while but I didn’t know how to go about it. But last year, I got that light-bulb moment,” Brown shared.

Her story underscores the hidden pressures and emotional challenges that media professionals can face behind the scenes, reminding the public that career achievements do not shield anyone from mental health struggles.
