Cristiano Ronaldo was left in a pool of tears after Morocco defeated Portugal in the quarter finals of the ongoing FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Youssef El-Nesri scored the only goal of the encounter towards the end of first-half to dump Ronaldo and Co out of the World Cup.

Ronaldo was introduced at the start of the second half as Portugal searched for an equalizing goal, and did put up an average performance.

The hard-fought victory means Morocco became the first African country to quality for the semi-final of a FIFA World Cup.

The Atlas Lions were only the fourth African team to reach the quarter-finals of anu World Cup, following in the footsteps of Cameroon (1990), Senegal (2002) and Ghana (2010).

Only three teams outside of Europe and South America have qualified for the semi-final of the World Cup: United States (1930) and South Korea (2002).

Morocco will now face the winner of the last quarter final encounter between England and France in the semi-finals.
