In this piece, DAILY REPORT NG brings you list of the most expensive cities to live in Africa.

Here are some of the cities known for their high cost of living:

1. Luanda, Angola: Luanda is consistently ranked as the most expensive city in Africa. The high cost of living is primarily due to an influx of expatriates, limited supply of housing, and high import prices. Accommodation, dining out, and transportation are particularly costly in Luanda.

2. Victoria, Seychelles: The Seychelles archipelago is known for its luxurious resorts and high-end tourism. As a result, the capital city of Victoria has a high cost of living. Rent, transportation, and imported goods are more expensive compared to other African cities.

3. Libreville, Gabon: Gabon’s capital, Libreville, is another expensive city in Africa. The country’s reliance on oil leads to high living costs, especially for imported goods and services. Accommodation, dining, and entertainment expenses are relatively high in Libreville.

4. Brazzaville, Republic of the Congo: Brazzaville, the capital of the Republic of the Congo, has a high cost of living due to limited housing options and high inflation rates. Imported goods, healthcare, and education costs are also relatively high.

5. Lagos, Nigeria: While Nigeria is generally known for its more affordable cities, Lagos stands out for its high cost of living. The city’s rapid growth and high population density contribute to the increased demand for housing, transportation, and consumer goods, resulting in higher prices.

6. Nairobi, Kenya: Kenya’s capital, Nairobi, is considered one of the most expensive cities in East Africa. The cost of living is driven by high rent prices in desirable neighborhoods, as well as the expense of imported goods and services.

7. Dakar, Senegal: Dakar, the capital of Senegal, is a vibrant and cosmopolitan city where the cost of living can be quite high. Renowned for its culinary scene, accommodation, utilities, and dining out in trendy areas can significantly impact the expenses.

8. Abidjan, Ivory Coast: As the economic capital of Ivory Coast, Abidjan has a high cost of living compared to other cities in West Africa. This is primarily due to the demand for luxury goods, high rents, and imported products.

Please note that the cost of living can vary depending on various factors such as lifestyle choices, accommodation preferences, and individual spending habits. It’s always recommended to research and gather up-to-date information if you are planning to live in any specific city in Africa.
