Most of our leaders are indeed capable. But they fail trying to make profit after spending a lot of money to buy support/votes during Election. And that process most times changes who they are. Sometimes it even turns them into wicked People. And we complain that they have failed and don’t care about us. But you can’t eat your cake and have it. Nature can only rise against oppression with you when there’s actually an oppression. And until you’re innocent, you can’t really say or do. Most fires are not without smokes.
“When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice, but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn” Proverbs 29:2.

So we see why there’s so much pain and mourning in the land!
Now, if we desire to see wickedness in power uproot or the council of the wicked overthrown, we must start with and from ourselves. We must learn to be the change we want to see.
Must the delegates collect money? Huge amounts at that! Then it rolls down to the entire electorate. Everyone wants their own meagre share before supporting and voting (After all the country has already gone bad, let me take my own too before it all breaks down – And you think the break down will not affect you?)
Are Political parties Business Empires? Is Government the Business World? Is Election the market? Is Politics not just a game anymore? Is God’s Purpose of Installing Leadership deliberately mocked? Is the Money really our problem?
If you know the pain, fear, and disdain with which candidates give you that money, you would refuse to receive it. That’s why those who win the elections still have other battles to fight. How about those who lose out? Some gave their sweats all out, sold properties, borrowed money so that they can meet up… You can imagine the frustration and distress.
And we the masses, we disturb our Political Leaders for money too much. Even when we don’t need to. Every single time you come across a Political Leader, you must “ask” with either one style or the other. And that’s just the reason many leaders don’t go to their constituencies to get connected to them for harmony, synergy and enhanced growth and development.
We need to stop “collecting” money from Political Leaders merely for Election purposes. So that we can gain the power of our voices back. We’ll be valued much more too. We need to stop making it look like it’s Money rather than the People, which gives Power. If not we will continue to be irrelevant in the eyes of most Leaders, and will continue to live falsely; forcing smiles, actions, and words. A true leader’s interest in people should be genuine.
When I talk about receiving money from Political Leaders for Election purposes, I’m not talking about the money one works for. After all “… a labourer is worthy of his wages.” 1 Timothy 5:18.
What we direly need for our society at this point in time are leaders of wisdom, understanding, vision, discipline, integrity, honesty, responsibility, accountability, versatility, all-round-capacity, rationality, trustworthiness, selflessness, servanthood, diligence, determination, courage, leaders with empathy, with the fear of God etc and not leaders of just financial capacity (It’s not your money we will use for the public projects na). If you’re wealthy it’s only a plus and not a criterion. Let the man/woman with the qualities be there whether he/she has the money or not.
Most leaders have not even been given the chance to prove their true selves. They’ve just been living under a veneer. And the difference between the real and the fake, the sincere and the pretence, is the money.
If we desire a better country, we must be willing to do the right things. Don’t think that it doesn’t concern you because you have so much money or power. Think of the future. Your grand and great grandchildren will not be able to live a balanced life tomorrow if you don’t play your part today (the Society will be too hot for everybody). If everyone takes their children abroad, abroad will be filled some day and get sick of us somehow.
Therefore, whether your stand is one or two or three Nigerias, think of the future and try to do the right thing always. It’s from RIGHT we get RIGHTEOUS. And that’s where the solution lies.
Do your little. It’s added to another man’s little in spite of yourself. And with a little here and there, we are gradually putting things right.
Proverbs 14:34 “Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a disgrace to any people”
To the small percentage of leaders who try to always do the right thing, especially when no one is watching, you are the RIGHTEOUS. We need more of you to salvage the society from the overall decadence that has enveloped it. Don’t be discouraged, because your reward will come. The good harvest of your seed sown is sure.
Then to our leaders who just like to fail us at will. You just derive pleasure in failing us. You stash and siphon development and employment funds for selfish purposes. You intentionally refuse to carry out the responsibilities of leadership you swore to do at your inaugurations. You are the WICKED. And there’s a warning for the wicked; Proverbs 37:17 “For the arms of the wicked will be broken, but the Lord upholds the righteous”
And wickedness is not only tied to leaders, followers are not exempted either.
And God responds to the mournings and cries of the people which are innocent. Exodus 22:23 “If you afflict them in any way, and they cry at all unto me, I will surely hear their cry”
Only time will tell!
So there’s still hope. And that hope is what I stand for.
I believe in a better tomorrow, and I’ll keep fighting for what I believe in!
#Shalom
