Mother Cries Out as School Allegedly Expels Her Child Over Unpaid ₦15,000 Party Levy

A Nigerian school identified as Aunty Joy has come under public scrutiny after allegedly expelling a student because the parent refused to pay a ₦15,000 fee for a school party and questioned the rationale behind the charge.

The incident was brought to light via a viral post on X (formerly known as Twitter), where the child’s mother shared a video expressing her outrage over how the situation unfolded.

According to her, the school had provided two separate bank accounts—one designated for tuition and another for the optional party levy. She said she chose to pay only for tuition, as she had no interest in the party.

Shockingly, she alleged that the school diverted the tuition payment to cover the party fee instead. “We were given different accounts for tuition and party fees. We paid for tuition, but they issued a party levy receipt instead,” she explained.

Angered by the apparent misappropriation of funds, she visited the school to demand answers. But the response, she claimed, was extreme.

“The management of Aunty Joy School told the teachers to give me back my school fees. They said they’re chasing my kids out because I complained and refused to pay for the party,” she said in the video, which was recorded outside the school premises.

She also alleged that the child was locked out of the classroom and his belongings were brought outside. “Now they’ve asked the teachers to bring my child’s things out because we complained about the ₦15,000 party fee,” she added.

The video has since sparked outrage online, with many calling for the school to be held accountable for what they describe as a gross abuse of power and disregard for parental rights.
