Mother Kidnaps Daughter in Kano, Demand N3m Ransom From Husband

A 25-year-old woman has been arrested by the Kanu State police command for allegedly kidnapping her six-year-old daughter in Madobi Local Government of the State.

The Kano State Commissioner of Police, CP Mohammed Usaini Gumel disclosed this on Thursday while parading 16 suspected armed robbers, kidnappers and drug dealers within Kano metropolis and some surrounding LGAs of the State.

According to him, the incident happened On 08/05/2023, when one Kabiru Shehu of Sharada Quarters, Kano Municipal Local Government reported that his 25 years divorced wife, Rahma Sulaiman called and informed him that his six-year-old daughter was kidnapped.

She said unknown persons called her and demanded for the sum of N3m as ransom.

The commissioner explained that after receiving the report, the police swung into action to rescue the victim and arrest the suspects.

Gumel said based on a follow-up investigation, the victim was rescued in Madobi LGA and the divorced wife was arrested.

He said the suspect confessed to having planned, took her daughter to a hideout, and demanded the ransom.

He said investigation was in progress and the suspect would be taken to court.
