- Mr P declared he’s the only member of the Okoye family with a music certificate, emphasizing that he formally studied music to back his artistic skills.
- He blamed P-Square’s split on fans who constantly compared him to his twin brother Paul, claiming those comparisons inflated Paul’s ego and caused friction.
- Mr P defended his talent by performing live, singing, dancing, and playing the guitar and piano to refute claims that he’s “talentless.”
Peter Okoye, popularly known as Mr P and formerly one half of the defunct music duo P-Square, has declared himself the only certified musician in the Okoye family.
Speaking at the AY Live show, the singer and dancer addressed long-standing debates about his talent and the reasons behind P-Square’s split, attributing the group’s fallout to toxic comparisons made by fans.

According to Mr P, repeated claims that his twin brother Paul was more talented eventually led to ego clashes and misbehavior.
“I have sung and danced but they told you I am talentless. I will prove myself today,” he said before demonstrating his vocal and instrumental skills. “The reason P-Square split was because two brothers were doing their thing and some fans started saying one was more talented than the other, and it got into his head and he started misbehaving.”
He went on to highlight his musical training as proof of his abilities: “They lied to you. In the whole of Okoye’s family, I’m the only one with music certificate. I read music. But they lied to you. I know the liars but let’s leave it. I have sang, danced and played the piano and the guitar, is it easy?”
P-Square officially disbanded in 2017 and briefly reunited in 2022 before going their separate ways again.
