Foremost telecommunications giants, MTN has hinted at rebranding from a telco to a full-fledged technology company.

This was revealed by the company in a teaser made yesterday.

According to the telco, the plan is part of its ‘Ambition 2025’ strategy, which aims to align all of its leading digital platforms for Africa’s progress.

“MTN Group’s Ambition 2025, aimed at ‘Leading digital platforms for Africa’s progress,’ has ushered in a new look that is aligned with our evolution from a telecommunications company to a technology company underpinned by one simple, consistent, yet striking brand,” according to the teaser.

MTN will unveil a refreshed brand identity and campaign on February 27 as part of our commitment and focus on accelerating Africa’s progress.”

To that end, it has replaced its previous logo with a new one, which is believed to accurately reflects its evolution from just voice to other digital platforms such as financial technology, artificial intelligence, and big data, among many others.

The previous logo, which featured red, white, and blue letters, was replaced with a new one that featured all blue letters surrounded by an oval.

The new logo is now prominently displayed on the signage at the company’s headquarters in Johannesburg, South Africa.
