Established in 2010 by the MTN Foundation, these scholarships celebrate outstanding students through three distinct categories: the MTN Science and Technology Scholarship (MTN STS), the MTN Scholarship for Blind Students (MTN SBS), and the Top 10 UTME Scholarship.

Here’s everything you need to know about these prestigious awards, including eligibility criteria, application processes, and updates for 2024.

MTN Science and Technology Scholarship (MTN STS)

Initiated to support 300-level students pursuing Science and Technology-related courses in Nigerian public tertiary institutions, the MTN STS has increased its annual scholarship amount to N300,000 for 2024. Eligible students must maintain a CGPA of 3.0/4 or 3.5/5 in public universities, colleges of education, or polytechnics.

 

Eligibility for MTN STS

– Students progressing from 200-level to 300-level or currently in 300-level.

– CGPA requirements vary: 3.0/4 or 3.5/5 for universities and colleges of education, 3.0 for polytechnics.

 

MTN Scholarship for Blind Students (MTN SBS)

Designed to assist visually impaired students at 200 and 300 levels across any course of study, the MTN SBS now offers N300,000 annually to 100 deserving individuals, up from 60. Eligibility criteria include maintaining a CGPA of 2.5 for universities and colleges of education, and 2.0 for polytechnics.

 

Eligibility for MTN SBS

– Open to 200 and 300-level blind students.

– Specific CGPA requirements: 2.5 for universities, 2.0 for polytechnics.

Top 10 UTME Scholarship

Since 2020, the Top 10 UTME Scholarship has been awarded to the highest scorers in the UTME, providing N300,000 annually from 100-level through graduation. This scholarship is available irrespective of the chosen course or institution, emphasizing academic merit and achievement.

 

Eligibility for Top 10 UTME Scholarship:

– Awarded to top 10 JAMB scorers.

– Open to students in public or private tertiary institutions in Nigeria.
