Chelsea’s speedy Ukrainian winger, Mykhailo Mudryk, now finds himself in hot water after the Football Association (FA) officially charged him with breaching anti-doping rules, following a failed drug test.

As a result, the former Shakter Donetsk star could face up to four years out of the game.

The FA kept it short and sweet on Wednesday 18, stating:
“Mykhailo Mudryk has been charged with anti-doping rule violations alleging the presence and/or use of a prohibited substance.”
They pointed to infractions of Regulations 3 and 4 and declined to say more.
Back in December, when Mudryk received a provisional suspension, he was stunned and he firmly denied he ever “knowingly used any banned substances.”
Meanwhile, his last outing for Chelsea was on November 28, when routine lab tests flagged his urine sample.
Officials later confirmed meldonium showed up in his system.
Under World Anti-Doping Agency rules, meldonium is said to be a banned substance.
Under FA regulations, that alone can trigger a ban of up to four years, potentially ending the 24-year-old’s career momentum.
Chelsea wasted no time launching an internal probe after the provisional suspension.

Now, they’re waiting on the B sample to either clear or condemn the initial result.
Mudryk, who has his name on the score sheet four times in 50 appearances, joined the Blues in January 2023.
He left Shakhtar Donetsk for over €70 million.
Undoubtedly, a lengthy ban will hinder his ascent, reduce Chelsea’s confidence and necessitate a squad reorganization.
