Nigerian singer, Asake, disclosed in an interview with YouTuber Korty EO that his father, Fatai Odunsi, initially opposed his choice to pursue a career in music.

The Sungba crooner said their relationship became strained when he decided to leave home against his father’s wishes.

“My dad and I were so close when I was younger. But it got to a time when I wanted to leave home to do what I’m doing now but my father said ‘No.’ I left regardless,” he explained.

Recall that in March 2025, Fatai Odunsi had accused Asake of neglect and abandonment, which generated widespread media attention.

Following public backlash, the singer and his father reconciled, with Asake assuming responsibility for his father’s welfare.
