Oluremi Tinubu, the First Lady of Nigeria, has stated that President Bola Tinubu is not responsible for the economic challenges currently facing the country.

Speaking at a visit to the Ooni of Ife’s palace in Osun State on Thursday, she emphasized that the administration is actively working to address these issues.

“We are just 18 months into our administration; we are not the cause of the current situation. We are trying to fix it and secure the future,” she said.

She acknowledged the removal of fuel subsidies but expressed optimism about Nigeria’s future. “With God on our side, in the next two years, Nigeria will be greater than this,” she added.

The First Lady reflected on previous attempts to remove the subsidy, asserting that her administration would succeed where others had failed, and she urged the public to continue their prayers for the nation’s progress.

During the event, the Ooni of Ife praised Oluremi Tinubu for her initiatives, particularly highlighting the New Era Initiative, which provides opportunities for young Nigerians to engage in governance.

Following this, the First Lady inaugurated a hostel and road named in her honor at Obafemi Awolowo University, reflecting her commitment to education and youth empowerment.
