Bishop David Oyedepo, the founder and presiding overseer of Living Faith Church Worldwide, has opened up about the humble financial beginnings of the ministry, revealing that his salary at the time was only N300 per month.
Speaking at the annual Shiloh service on Thursday, Oyedepo told thousands of worshippers how he stepped into full-time ministry with nothing but faith. He recalled asking God, “Jesus, who pays me now that I’m going into full-time ministry?” before receiving what he described as divine clarity.

Quoting Luke 10, he reminded the congregation of Jesus’ instruction to the seventy disciples: “The labourer is worthy of his hire.” He explained that the scripture shaped his conviction that God takes responsibility for those He calls.
Drawing from his early years, he said: “No soldier gets enlisted and returns to his village asking for money to buy uniforms or weapons. The person who enlists you is responsible for you.”

Oyedepo stressed that in over 41 years of ministry, he has never prayed about survival or lobbied anyone for financial help. He noted that despite the small salary, he refused to beg from any church member or send teams to solicit support.
“My salary in the church as resident and founder was N300 a month. I never lobbied around anyone’s resources. I never sent any team member to beg from anyone. Forty-one years running, we’ve depended solely on God,” he said.
He encouraged believers to trust God’s guidance, teaching that revelation and obedience remain the pillars of spiritual and material breakthrough.
