The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has confirmed that its air component of Operation Hadin Kai carried out successful airstrikes that eliminated scores of Boko Haram terrorists and destroyed a major insurgent stronghold in Borno State.

According to a statement released on Friday by the Director of Public Relations and Information at NAF Headquarters, Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, the precision air raids were launched in the early hours of Friday, targeting fleeing terrorists in Bita, a notorious Boko Haram hideout in the North-East.

Describing the operation as a significant victory, the NAF noted that the well-coordinated aerial assault was executed under the cover of darkness, resulting in the neutralization of numerous insurgents and the dismantling of their operational base.

“The Nigerian Air Force through the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai has recorded a major operational success against Boko Haram terrorists,” the statement read in part.

It further explained that the mission marks one of the most decisive blows dealt to the terror group in recent times. Following the strikes, ground troops reportedly moved in to conduct clearance operations and exploit the success of the air mission.

NAF also reaffirmed its commitment to defending Nigeria’s territorial integrity and ensuring the safety of its citizens, emphasizing that efforts are ongoing to deny terrorist groups any sanctuary within the country.
