The Katsina State Government has confirmed that a Nigerian Air Force (NAF) operation destroyed a notorious bandits’ enclave and rescued 76 victims in Kankara Local Government Area.
Dr. Nasir Mu’azu, Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, announced the development in a statement on Saturday, August 23, 2025, explaining that the camp of a notorious kingpin known as Babaro and his gang was levelled during the strike.
According to the statement, the bandits were behind the recent attack in Malumfashi community.
“This morning, the NAF carried out a decisive air operation at Pauwa Hill in Kankara Local Government Area, successfully rescuing 76 kidnapped victims, including women and children,” the statement said.

The government disclosed that the freed victims included those abducted during the attack on Unguwan Mantau in Malumfashi, though one child was confirmed dead during the ordeal.
It commended the security forces for the success of the operation while calling on residents to support the ongoing fight against banditry by volunteering credible intelligence to security agencies.
