  • NAFDAC has destroyed fake, expired, and substandard products worth N4.7 billion in Rivers State.

  • The destroyed items included substandard and falsified medical products, unwholesome processed food and food additives.

  • NAFDAC’s Director-General, Prof. Mojisola Christiana Adeyeye, emphasized the agency’s commitment to protecting public health.

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has destroyed fake, expired, and substandard products worth N4.7 billion in Rivers State.

The destruction exercise took place at the Rivers State dump site in Port Harcourt on Friday.

According to NAFDAC’s Director-General, Prof. Mojisola Christiana Adeyeye, the destroyed products were seized from six states in the South-South region, including Rivers, Bayelsa, Edo, Delta, Akwa Ibom, and Cross River.

Adeyeye emphasized that the agency’s investigation, enforcement, and destruction of harmful products reflect its unwavering commitment to public health.

“The destruction of these harmful products is not just a routine exercise.

“It is a firm statement of our unwavering resolve and commitment to protect the lives of the people from the dangers of counterfeit and substandard medicines, unwholesome food, medical devices, and other hazardous regulated products.” She said.

NAFDAC Shuts Down 250 Illegal Factories Producing Fake Products In Abia

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has shut down the infamous Cemetery Market in Aba, Abia State, for the second time in two years.

The agency seized fake and substandard food and beverages worth over ₦5 billion in its latest operation, tagged Operation Clean Up Aba.
