Nigerian skit maker-turned-singer, Nasboi, has revealed that he was involved in a car accident during his ambitious tour across Nigeria aimed at securing a music collaboration with Afrobeats superstar Davido.
Last week, the comedian announced his unique campaign strategy, pledging to travel to all 36 states of Nigeria and kneel in each one as a symbolic appeal for a joint track with Davido, whom he described as “king.”
Nasboi, whose real name is Nasiru Bolaji Lawal, first gained fame through comedy by mimicking Davido in 2019, a move initially intended to draw attention to his musical aspirations.

Though his skits made him a household name, he says he’s now returning to his first passion—music.
So far, the ‘Umbrella’ crooner has visited seven states: Osun, Kano, Imo, Anambra, Katsina, Niger, and Plateau. On Tuesday, he shared via Instagram Story that he was headed to Bauchi. However, during a subsequent Instagram Live session, Nasboi revealed that he had been in a car accident along the way.
Appearing unhurt, the 33-year-old said it was the first time he had ever experienced an accident and could only laugh about the incident. He assured fans that he plans to continue the journey but would pause to repair the damaged vehicle before resuming his state-to-state campaign.
Nasboi made his official musical debut in November 2023 with the release of Umbrella, a hit single featuring Wande Coal. The song sparked the viral “Umbrella Challenge” on social media, marking his transition into the music scene.
Despite the setback, Nasboi remains committed to his goal of catching Davido’s attention through determination, creativity, and consistency.
