The Kogi State government has taken measures to prevent violence and maintain law and order.
Natasha Akpoti, a senator representing Kogi Central, has proceeded with a rally in defiance of the Kogi State government’s ban on rallies and large gatherings.
The government had imposed the ban due to communal and political tensions in the state, aiming to prevent escalation of violence and maintain law and order.
In a recent Facebook post, Akpoti attempted to shift potential blame for any violence that may occur onto Governor Usman Ododo, former Governor Yahaya Bello, and Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
She stated, “My dear people of Kogi Central, I look forward to our PEACEFUL Sallah celebrations today. However, should we be met with or infiltrated by violence, Nigerians should hold Gov Ã’dodo, Yahaya Bello & SP Godswill Akpabio wholly responsible.”
