NDDC Board: INC Congratulates Ogbuku, Dimaro; Commends Buhari

The Ijaw National Congress has commended President Muhammadu Buhari over the constitution of the new substantive board for the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC.

The apex Ijaw body also congratulated Samuel Ogbuku on his nomination as the NDDC Managing Director and Senator Denyabofa Dimaro as Bayelsa State Representative.

Daily Report Nigeria reports that the President submitted the composition of the new NDDC board to the senate for screening on Wednesday.

In an interview with Daily Report Nigeria on Wednesday, the INC Publicity Secretary, Engr. Ezonebi Oyakemeagbegha, lauded President Buhari for finally making moves to inaugurate the overdue board.

Lamenting that the constitution of the board is coming later than the people expected, Oyakemeagbegha expressed hope that the inauguration process would be sped up to enable the NDDC get to work immediately.

He said;

“We cannot thank Mr. President enough for finally paying heed to the demands of the Niger Delta people for a substantive board to pilot the affairs of the NDDC.

“Though the constitution is coming rather late, we are full of hope that the new board will get to work with immediate effect so as to cover up for lost time.

“The INC also extend our congratulations to our dear sons, Samuel Ogbuku on his appointment as the NDDC Managing Director, and Senator Denyabofa Dimaro as Bayelsa State Representatives.

“As someone with experience in government and coupled with his vast knowledge of the region, we expect nothing but an optimum performance from Ogbuku and the rest of the board.”

As read on the floor of the Senate by its President, Ahmed Lawan, the new NDDC board will be chaired by President Buhari’s aide, Lauretta Onochie.

Nominees for the NDDC board include Dimgba Erugba – State representative (Abia, South East), Ene Wilcox (Akwa Ibom, State Representative, South South ), Pius Odudu (Edo, South South), Gbenga Odegba (South West, Ondo) and Anthony Ekene (South East, Imo state).

Others are Onyekachi Dimgba (Rivers State, South South), Mohammed Abubakar(Zonal Representative, Nasarawa), Tallen Mamma, (North East Representative, Adamawa), Sodique Sani (North West, Zonal Representative), Samuel Ogbuku (MD), Charles Airhiavbere, (Executive of Finance) and Charles Ogunmola (Executive Director Project , South West).
