  • NDDC MD, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku has received backing from Niger Delta Youth Leaders
  • Ogbuku has faced heavy criticism and calls for his sack from certain quarters
  • The NDENYLF and the IYC has described the calls for his head as distractions

Youth under the aegis of the Niger Delta Ethnic Nationalities Youth Leaders Forum (NDENYLF), in collaboration with the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC), has passed a vote of confidence on the Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).

The youths cutting across the Niger Delta declared Ogbuku as a workaholic who deserves nothing short of the support of all ethnic nationalities from the region.

The match had the presence of all zonal and chapter chairmen of the Ijaw Youth Council worldwide as well as the 6th Mobile Parliament led by Allen Tomoni and other critical stakeholders across the region.

The youths marched across Warri and environs in solidarity for Ogbuku and warned mischief makers hiding under faceless groups from distracting the NDDC MD from focusing on the job at hand.

NDDC: IYC Calls For Calm Amid Attacks on Ogbuku

Addressing newsmen at the NDDC office in Warri, Comrade Nicholas Igarama, Chairman IYC Western Zone, who spoke on behalf of the youth leaders, called on the region to support the development driven policies of Ogbuku.

Igarama stressed that Ogbuku has shown signs of having the development of the Niger Delta at heart in just over one year in office and, as such, should be given the necessary support to see out his tenure in office.

“This is a solidarity walk for Dr. Samuel Ogbuku over the endless criticism against his reign. The MD works in a constitution-backed agency with a mandatory four-year term.

“In his one year and few months in office, we can all testify that he has done magnificently well. The polarisation project is clear for even the blind to see. He has impacted Niger Deltans across different sectors.

“The little face-lift on the East-West Road today is an extension of oversight function of the NDDC. We are by this walk calling on all Niger Deltans to rally round Ogbuku and give him the needed support towards our general betterment,” Igarama said.
