According to him, President Muhammadu Buhari at the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting in Abuja on Wednesday directed that immediate action should be taken to bring relief to communities affected by the rampaging flood.

The stretch of the East-West road leading from Ahoada, Mbiama to Bayelsa was cut off as a result of the ravaging flood.

The collapsed sections of the road have made vehicular movement very difficult thereby denying road users access to Ahoada and other parts of Rivers and Bayelsa states.

Umana was accompanied by the acting Managing Director of NDDC, Engr. Emmanuel Audu-Ohwavborua, and directors of the commission.

The acting Managing Director of NDDC had earlier said the commission shall within the coming days engage and mobilise a company to inspect the failed section of the East-West Road.
