The Egbesu Brotherhood has again called for the sack of the National Security Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari, Mohammed Babagana Monguno, accusing him of sabotaging the Presidential Amnesty Program for personal gains.

In a statement on Monday by it’s Deputy Leader, Priest Ellington Bakumor, the group also called on the Buhari led government to as a matter of urgency institute a substantive board for the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC.

Continuing, Bakumor also echoed the urgent need for the appointment of a permanent Amnesty Boss, instead of an acting one “as we feel that certain elements within the Buhari led administration like Babagana Mungono are using the current state of the Amnesty office and the NDDC to loot more resources of the Ijaw people and Niger delta at large, at the expense of the common man.

“People are getting extremely frustrated, the state of the country is too fragile security wise for another unrest to happen in the Niger Delta region,” he stated.

“We also express worry over the continuous systematic witch-hunt of the National Leader of the South South, High Chief Government Ekpemupolo alias TomPolo, that after winning a case his assets remain withheld by the federal Government through the EFCC, leaving thousands who survive themselves and their families through TomPolo and his company impoverished jobless and frustrated.

“This is beyond a political witch-hunt. This is wickedness of the highest order and this is sending more wrong signals to the people of the Niger Delta about this government, which may lead to unrest in the region and many youths may in no time use legal means of protest to begin to express ourselves which may affect revenue.

The outspoken convener of the Ijaw Unity Sensitization Conference decried the rudderless politicking portrayed by sons of the region, especially of Ijaw extraction.

“I am ashamed and also deeply worried about current events bedeviling Ijaw Nation, as we seem to be plunging into a more confused state. Personal political interest has overwhelmed us and we have failed to see how we can harness the power of the unity of our diversity in political affiliation.

“We have forgotten brotherhood and the common collective interest of making Ijaw great. We have failed continuously to speak in one voice, hence we have been robbed too many times,” the statement concluded.

The group called on the present government to proactively do the needful as a matter of urgency to avert all avoidable unrest in the often volatile Niger Delta.
