Ndidi Highlights Key Absences Ahead of Super Eagles’ Crucial World Cup Qualifier

1 Min Read

Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi has identified four key players the team will miss in their 2026 World Cup qualifying match against Benin Republic on Monday evening.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference on Sunday, Ndidi mentioned Victor Osimhen, William Troost-Ekong, Ola Aina, and Ahmed Musa as notable absentees for the clash at the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium in Abidjan.

Osimhen is out due to injury, while Troost-Ekong and Musa were not called up due to lack of match fitness. These players were also absent in the 1-1 draw against South Africa in Uyo.

Addressing how the team will manage without them, Ndidi said, “These players are very key to us; they are experienced. But the team comes first. When players are not available, there are always good players ready to fill those positions. We miss them, no doubt, but it doesn’t change our aim to qualify for the World Cup.”
