Interim Super Eagles head coach, Augustine Eguavoen has listed a 28-man squad for forthcoming African Cup of Nations 2021 in Cameroon.

Eguavoen was appointed on interim basis following the sacking of German coach Gernot Rohr.

Daily Report Nigeria can recall that the biennial competition is billed for January 9 to February 6.

Captain Ahmed Musa leads notable names like midfielder Wilfred Ndidi, striker Victor Osimhen among others for the big showdown.

Nigeria, three –time winners of the AFCON are pitched against record title holders Egypt, Sudan and debutants Guinea Bissau.

The Super Eagles’ first encounter is against the Pharaohs in the northern town of Garoua on Tuesday, January 11.

Eguavoen, who led the team to third-place finish at the finals in Egypt 2006 has selected four goalkeepers, nine defenders, five midfielders and 10 forwards to aim for Nigeria’s fourth diadem in Cameroon.

Goalkeepers Maduka Okoye and Francis Uzoho, defenders Kenneth Omeruo, Olaoluwa Aina and Abdullahi Shehu, midfielders Joseph Ayodele-Aribo and Chidera Ejuke and forwards Moses Simon, Odion Ighalo and Samuel Chukwueze are also on the roster.

Former U17 World Cup –winning captain, Kelechi Nwakali, striker Emmanuel Dennis and 2016 Olympics star, Sadiq Umar have all made a return to the team.

Meanwhile, all selected player apart from those baser in UK are expected to arrived camp in Abuja on December 29.

The UK-based are also expected to join the team at their Abuja base on January 3, 2022.
