The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested Mrs. Ifeoma Henrietta Ezewuike, a 50-year-old widow and fashion designer, for attempting to traffic 1.3 kilograms of cocaine by faking a pregnancy to evade scrutiny.

Ezewuike, who owns Golden Star Creation fashion outfit in Okota, Lagos, was intercepted at Jibowu bus terminal, Yaba, while heading to deliver the drug consignment to customers in Abuja.

NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi said a follow-up search at her Ago Palace residence led to the recovery of 200 grams of cutting agent used in cocaine production.

The suspect, mother of one, admitted she continued the trade after inheriting it from her late husband, despite running a 20-year-old fashion business.

In another operation, NDLEA officers intercepted 90 parcels of Loud, a cannabis strain weighing 48.6kg, smuggled from the United States and concealed in cartons of kitchen sinks at a Lagos courier firm.

Raids in Adamawa led to the recovery of 354,480 tramadol pills from a black Toyota Thundra and a Toyota Yaris, with one suspect escaping and another arrested. In Kogi, officers seized 5,000 tramadol capsules and hundreds of ampoules of injections at Idah waterside.

Kano operations yielded 452,070 pills from the home of a fleeing suspect and additional codeine syrup and pregabalin capsules from separate arrests.

Along Zaria-Kano Road, NDLEA seized 7,000 tramadol capsules from a 29-year-old suspect.

The agency said the seizures underline the scale of trafficking networks across Nigeria and its commitment to disrupting them.
