Over 399 improvised explosive devices were recovered by National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) personnel from 39-year-old Asana Leke.

Daily Report Nigeria reports that the explosives were recovered by the NDLEA on Thursday September 7, 2023.

Leke who lives along Mokwa-Jebah Road said the explosives were handed over at a park in Ibadan, Oyo State, to be delivered to someone in Kaduna State.

He was later handed over to military authorities in Niger State, along with exhibits.

In addition to various anti-drug efforts, the NDLEA’s state special forces and other organizations also continued the Drug Enforcement Agency’s campaign to combat drug abuse in schools, places of worship, palaces, communities, etc.

NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi disclosed the development on Sunday in an official email communication obtained by newsmen.

He also explained that NDLEA officials intercepted shipments of skunk hidden in tomato paste and methamphetamine hidden in old clothes destined for export to Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

Babafemi said:

“While the skunk in tomato pastes consignment weighing 20.00 kilogrammes was intercepted on Friday, September 8, at the SAHCO export shed of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, the meth shipment with a gross weight of 1.60kg was seized at a courier company in Lagos State.

“Another consignment of 556 grammes of Canadian Loud sent from Canada to one Tunji Adebayo in Ikorodu, Lagos was also intercepted by NDLEA officers of the Directorate of Operations and General Investigation, attached to courier firms.

“Though Adebayo was not home when operatives visited his house at 52, Aina Atoloye Street, Ikorodu, he however directed his younger brother to sign for the package on his behalf. The brother was promptly arrested.”
