The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has announced the official opening of its student loan application portal for the 2025/2026 academic session, set to run from October 23, 2025, to January 31, 2026.
In a statement signed by Oseyemi Oluwatuyi, Director of Strategic Communications, NELFUND appreciated the cooperation of tertiary institutions nationwide and called for continued partnership to ensure a seamless and inclusive loan process for eligible students.

According to the Fund, all accredited institutions are expected to update and upload verified records of both returning and newly admitted students on the NELFUND Student Verification Portal. This, it said, is a key step for applicants to successfully process and benefit from the scheme.
The agency noted that new students may apply using either their Admission Number or JAMB Registration Number, while urging schools to be considerate with registration and fee deadlines for students awaiting loan disbursement.
NELFUND also encouraged institutions to allow temporary registration for students whose applications are still being processed, so that no learner is denied access to education due to financial challenges.
