Students still using digital wallets urged to update details via official channels
The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has resumed the disbursement of upkeep allowances to beneficiary students who have updated their bank details to conventional commercial banks.
NELFUND spokesperson, Mrs Oseyemi Oluwatuyi, announced the development in a statement posted on Friday via the organisation’s official X (formerly Twitter) handle.
According to the statement, more than 3,600 students who previously registered with digital-only banking platforms have now received their backlog of upkeep payments following updates to their details on the NELFUND portal.

“Significant Breakthrough”
“This development marks a significant breakthrough in resolving earlier disbursement delays,” the statement read.
NELFUND commended the patience and understanding of affected students during the period of delay, noting that their cooperation enabled the agency to resolve technical bottlenecks.
Next Steps for Awaiting Students
For students still awaiting payment and using digital wallet accounts, NELFUND advised raising a support ticket via its official portal to request access for updating their bank details.
Alternatively, such students may report through their institution’s IT office, which will compile and forward all related cases to NELFUND for resolution.
The agency assured that no eligible student would be left behind in the ongoing disbursement process.
“NELFUND remains committed to enhancing efficiency, transparency, and student-centred delivery of our support services. We urge all students to continue engaging only through official channels and to assist peers who may require help navigating the update process,” the statement added.
