Netflix has approved a reality TV series inspired by its most popular series of all time, Squid Game.

It will be recruiting 456 participants for the reality TV show and the winner will be going home with $4.56 million.

Losing participants would not be killed, unlike the original ultra-violent fictitious show from South Korea, which became one of Netflix’s biggest-ever hits last year.

“With the largest cast in reality TV history, 456 actual gamers will compete for a life-changing cash reward of $4.56 million,” the streaming platform announced on a website dedicated to finding contestants.

The “Squid Game: The Challenge” is recruiting English speakers aged 21 and older who are available to travel for up to a month in early 2023.

“The stakes are tremendous, but the worst fate in this game is going home empty-handed.”

Players will participate “in a series of heart-stopping games,” according to Netflix, which describes the new reality show as its “biggest-ever social experiment.”

The original fictional series was viewed as a harsh satire on modern capitalism, with participants pulled from the fringes of society playing children’s games for the chance to earn large sums of money, with the danger of death if they lost.

The new news comes just days after Netflix announced that a second season of “The Squid Game” would be released.

Hwang Dong-hyuk, the show’s creator, announced in April that the continuation would not be ready until 2024.
