Newly Elected Local Government Chairman Dies in Kano

The newly elected Chairman of Bebeji local government area in Kano state, Ali Namadi is dead, Daily Report Nigeria can confirm.

Ali, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) died 1.00am on Tuesday morning aged 57.

His demise was confirmed by the APC Publicity Committee Chairman of Bebeji local government area, Ibrahim Adamu Tiga.

According to Tiga, the deceased drove himself to a hospital in the area for medications but later died as a result of a suspected rise in his blood pressure.

Spokesman for the APC in Kano state, Dahiru, also confirmed Namadi’s death saying “He (deceased) was a very close friend. We schooled together,” he told news men.

Namadi made up the 44 newly elected local government council Chairmen under the umbrella of the APC on Saturday.

The chairmen elects alongside 484 councilors were to receive their Certificate of Return from the Kano State Independent Electoral Commission (KANSIEC) on Tuesday before Namadi who won Bebeji died.

His remains will be laid to rest on Tuesday according to Islamic rites, in his Bebeji residence.
