NFF Renames NPFL

The Nigeria Football Federation has renamed the Nigeria Professional Football League.

Daily Report Nigeria reports that NFF ratified name change to Nigeria Premier Football League.

The ratification is coming even as the league prepares to resume for the 2023/23 season.

The ratification was done at the 79th general assembly of the football governing body on Sunday in Uyo.

“The congress approved the change of name of the Nigeria Professional Football League to the Nigeria Premier Football League,” NFF said in a communique.

The 2023/24 NPFL season was earlier scheduled to kick-off on Saturday, September 9 with a curtain raiser between 3SC and Plateau United was postponed over exigencies with sponsorship.

A new date for the kick-off the NPFL is expected to be announced soon.
