The 24-year-old flew to Munich to finalise the move but was told the switch could not go ahead when Chelsea suddenly reversed course.

Chelsea made the decision after injuries to Liam Delap (expected to miss up to eight weeks with a hamstring problem) and Cole Palmer (groin), which would have left Enzo Maresca with Joao Pedro as his only senior fit striker, particularly after Christopher Nkunku’s move to AC Milan.

Nicolas Jackson Rejects Chelsea Return After Failed Bayern Deal

Bayern sporting director Max Eberl confirmed the deal was off following Bayern’s 3–2 win at Augsburg.

Angry at the late change of plans, Jackson, through his agent Diomansy Kamara chose to stay in Munich while talks continue.

“We’re not going back. The plane doesn’t go backwards: Munich,” – Kamara wrote.

Clubs had reportedly agreed an initial £13m (€15m) loan fee with an option to make the move permanent for about £52m, but Chelsea appear to favour a permanent sale and are exploring alternatives ahead of the transfer deadline, with Sporting Lisbon’s Conrad Harder linked as one possibility.

Jackson, who has not featured for Chelsea this season, was told he was not in Maresca’s immediate plans after the arrivals of Delap and Joao Pedro.

Since joining from Villarreal two years ago his time at Stamford Bridge has shown promise but also drawn criticism for inconsistent finishing.

For now, the standoff leaves Jackson in limbo and Chelsea short of options up front.
