The Speaker of the Niger State House of Assembly, Abdulmalik Mohammed Sarkin-Daji, has lauded the Nigerian Army and other security agencies for the successful rescue of about 70 kidnapped victims during recent operations in Mariga Local Government Area of the state.
In a statement issued on Sunday, Sarkin-Daji described the operation as a major breakthrough in the fight against banditry, noting that it had brought renewed hope to communities long affected by abductions and violent attacks.

He specifically commended the Nigerian Army for its bravery and professionalism, while also acknowledging the critical support provided by the Department of State Services (DSS) and other security agencies operating within the Niger North Senatorial District.
According to the Speaker, the coordinated operation led to the neutralisation of several bandits, the arrest of suspected criminals, and the safe rescue of innocent citizens who had been held captive.
“The bravery and professionalism of the Nigerian Army and other security agencies resulted in the neutralisation of criminals and the successful rescue of many innocent citizens,” he said.

Sarkin-Daji added that the rescue of about 70 victims underscored the renewed determination of security agencies to dismantle criminal networks and restore peace across the state.
He said the development had boosted public confidence, particularly among residents of rural and vulnerable communities who had endured repeated attacks and kidnappings.
The Speaker further assured the security agencies of the continued support and cooperation of the Niger State Government, stressing its commitment to strengthening security operations across the state.
He also urged residents to remain calm, vigilant, and law-abiding, while calling on them to support security agencies with timely and credible information to help prevent crime and sustain peace.
