The Niger State Police Command has successfully rescued Mubarak Iliya, a 23-year-old man who was kidnapped from Gatawa village in Sokoto State and became lost in the forest for eight days.
Police Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun, disclosed in Minna on May 22, 2025, that operatives of the 12 PMF at the Mararaban Dan-Daudu checkpoint found Mubarak wandering in the forest around 11:00 a.m.
Following questioning, Mubarak revealed that he and his father, Iliya Daddi, both from Sabon-Birnin Local Government Area of Sokoto State, were abducted by unknown gunmen in April during the Ramadan period.

According to him, their village was attacked by hoodlums who fired shots, forcing them to flee. Unfortunately, they were captured by the bandits.

He explained that they were tied, blindfolded, and transported on motorcycles to an undisclosed location, but he later escaped. Mubarak then spent eight days navigating the forest before police found and rescued him.
He was taken to the Gwada Division for medical attention, and efforts are currently underway to locate his relatives. The police investigation into the incident continues.

The Nigeria Police, through INTERPOL NCB Abuja, have successfully extradited Abubakar Aboki Muhammed, a Nigerian fugitive, from the United Arab Emirates to face prosecution in Nigeria.
According to ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, Force Public Relations Officer, Muhammed was the subject of an INTERPOL Red Notice issued by NCB Abuja following a thorough investigation into allegations of Obtaining Money by False Pretence, Forgery, and Money Laundering.
