Chief Olu Falae, a former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, has berated the handling of security and economic challenge by president Muhammdu Buhari’s administration.

Falae said that the country is already drifting towards precipice due to the increasing insecurity situation and the country’s economy.

According to him, if the activities of criminals, most especially bandits were not dealt with on time, they would soon develop the effrontery to negotiate over territory control.

The elder statesman, who stated this in Akure, the Ondo State capital, noted that indices revealed by international bodies that Nigeria had become unemployment capital of the world, the corruption capital of the world and underdevelopment capital of the world were indications that things are getting worse.

“We are already at the edge of the cliff. The question is, are they going to topple into the abyss below? Or are we going to find a way of pulling back from the precipice? That is the question.

“For us to pull back, there must be a political initiative that will signal that tomorrow will be better than today. If there is no such signal, I don’t know what is going to happen tomorrow, I don’t know.”

While condemning the President Buhari’s administration on its insistence on grazing routes, Chief Falae, noted that the government ought to be saddled with how to identify and solve the major problems currently facing the country.

“We are almost at the verge of a civil war and yet the government is talking about the routes that cattle will take from somewhere to another place, how to set up colonies for cattle as if cattle is the only business of Nigeria.”
