Nigeria, China to Strengthen Economic Ties

Chinese President, Xi Jinping has expressed his commitment to strengthening economic ties with Nigeria.

During a meeting with President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday Jinping’s Special Envoy, Peng Qinghua stated that Nigeria was an important country in Africa and the world.

It was revealed that the two countries already have good bilateral relations and economic cooperation, with Chinese companies making significant contributions to Nigeria’s infrastructure development.

Jinping’s envoy commended Tinubu’s plan for economic development and prosperity and highlighted areas where Nigeria could benefit from Chinese investment.

He urged Tinubu to ensure a more conducive environment for investment having shared ideas and align strategies.

In his response, the President promised that his administration would work to promote ease of doing business.

Tinubu added that Nigeria was open for business and constructive partnerships, and would do business with any country ready to do business with the country.

He said:

We need accelerated growth and we are ready to do business honestly with those ready to do business with us.

“We will continue to work to promote democracy in the West African sub-region. I’m a product of democracy and shall work day and night to advance democracy.

“We will fight terrorism and all forms of criminality.

“We can learn from each other, but we will remain non-aligned.”
