Kotin, who had been on the wanted list for cross-border crimes including armed banditry, arms smuggling, cattle rustling, and drug trafficking, was intercepted at Idi Iroko in Ipokia Local Government Area.
“Working on credible intelligence, NPF–NCB operatives launched a discreet operation that led to Kotin’s arrest at Idi Iroko. The fugitive was interrogated on his transnational crimes before being formally handed over to NCB Cotonou officials,” Hundeyin stated.

Authorities revealed that seven members of Kotin’s criminal network are already facing trial in Benin Republic, while he fled into Nigeria to evade capture.
Inspector-General of Police, Dr Kayode Egbetokun, commended the officers for the successful operation, stressing that Nigeria will never shield international criminals.
“Regardless of their influence or connections, criminals will find no safe haven in Nigeria. Our mandate remains the protection of sovereignty, the rule of law, and the strengthening of global security cooperation,” the IGP declared.
