Former Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi has argued that the political system in Nigeria lost for not making the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo her president.

Sanusi spoke at the virtual launch of a book:” Osinbajo Strides: Defining Moments of an Innovative Leader” on Monday.

He stated that Nigeria lost by not electing Osinbajo during the just concluded presidential election.

Further supporting his argument, the former Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, governor, said the VP was one of those in the current administration who could debate any matter and yield a superior argument.

He said:

And I dare say, we all agree that Nigeria is worse off for not having someone like him (Osinbajo) as president, but I do hope that he will be available to serve and to advise and to put in his best for the country and continue to do.

“So I’m sure he will, in whatever capacity he finds himself in the future, and maybe we’ll still be lucky to have him lead us at some point or take some leadership role as a statesman.”

Recall that Osinbajo failed having been described as a threat among others who contested against President-elect, Bola Tinubu during the 2022 All Progressives Congress, APC presidential primaries.

The VP was also heavily criticised by Tinubu’s loyalists for vying to contest while his alleged political godfather was in the race.
