The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has confirmed 40 cases of Mpox (Monkeypox) across 13 states, with a focus on the southern regions.
No deaths have been reported, and the NCDC is working to increase testing capacity and implement active surveillance measures.

The NCDC has recorded 40 confirmed cases of Mpox out of 830 suspected cases, with no deaths reported. The cases are spread across 13 states, with a concentration in the south-south and south-east regions.
The director-general of the NCDC, Jide Idris, stated that the agency is working to increase the number of laboratories for testing and has developed an incident action plan to address the outbreak.
The World Health Organization (WHO) and the Africa Centre for Disease Control (CDC) have declared the Mpox outbreak in parts of Africa a public health emergency, with hundreds of deaths reported in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and spread to other countries.
