The Nigerian government has categorically denied allegations of involvement in a plot to destabilize neighboring Niger Republic, describing the claims as baseless.

In a statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, acting spokesperson Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa stated, “The Government of Nigeria condoles with the Government of Niger over the unfortunate attack on the oil pipeline, but informs that the perpetrators were neither backed nor assisted by Nigerian authorities.”

The Nigerian government emphasized its commitment to combating terrorism, saying, “The Government of Nigeria is strongly committed to the fight against terrorism and will not condone or support the activities of such groups.”

The statement also dismissed claims of French military troops being stationed in northern Nigeria to destabilize Niger, describing the allegations as “unfounded” and urging them to be “discarded in their entirety.”
