Nigeria Wrestling Federation Unveils Team for 2024 Paris Olympics

The Nigeria Wrestling Federation (NWF) has revealed the six wrestlers who will represent the country at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. The team includes five female wrestlers, one male wrestler, and three coaches.

In a vibrant ceremony at the Dynamite Wrestling gym in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, the following wrestlers were introduced:

  • Tokyo Olympic silver medalist Blessing Oborodudu (68kg)
  • Reigning African champion Odunayo Adekuoroye (57kg)
  • Military world champion Hannah Reuben (76kg)
  • African champions and Olympic debutants Esther Kolawole (62kg) and Ogunsanya Christinah (53kg)
  • Ashton Mutuwa (125kg) in men’s freestyle wrestling

The coaching team consists of Victor Kodei, Purity Akuh, and Happiness Burutu.

The athletes and officials are scheduled to leave Nigeria for Spain on July 3rd to participate in a pre-Olympic tournament in Madrid. They will then head to Germany for their final training camp before the Olympics.
