Nigerian Breaks Guinness world Record with 75-Hour Video Game Marathon

Guinness world Record

A 24-year-old Nigerian man has shattered a Guinness world Record record by playing a soccer video game continuously for over three days. Oside Oluwole, known as “Khoded,” completed a 75-hour video game marathon, far exceeding the previous record of 50 hours set by Englishman David Whitefoot in 2022.

Oside, a biochemist currently working as a car dealer, took on this challenge to raise funds for a local hospital in his hometown of Ijebu Ode. Unlike the previous record holders who played FIFA or Pro Evolution Soccer, Oside chose the mobile game Dream League Soccer 2023 on his iPhone, connected to a TV screen.

An avid fan of Dream League Soccer since 2016, Oside played over 500 matches during his record attempt. As per the rules for ‘longest marathon’ records, he accumulated five minutes of rest time for every hour of gaming, which he used for eating, napping, or using the bathroom.

Reflecting on his achievement, Oside said, “I really enjoyed playing for 75 hours straight with just some hours of rest. It wasn’t easy, but it was fun. It was a great moment, and I’m grateful to God for the success.”

Oside’s feat stands out as no one has broken this Guinness world Record by such a large margin. The Guinness world Record was first set in 2010 with a time of 24 hours and gradually increased to 50 hours over 11 years. Inspired by Chef Hilda Baci’s record-breaking cook-a-thon last year, which captivated Nigeria, Oside decided to take on this challenge and make history.
