Some guests and social media users have praised the couple’s creativity and frugality, while others have criticized the choice as unbefitting for a wedding celebration.

“I don’t understand. With the same amount of money, they could have made Jollof or even cooked soup, even if it’s with just kpomo. Maybe the guy just wants to trend. He’s lucky to have a humble wife who accepts such wedding,” said Rossikk, a social media user.

However, others have defended the couple’s choice, saying it’s a reflection of their personality and style. “God bless them for being economical during this trying time. There is more to life after the wedding,” said helinues, another social media user.

As one user, Duolingo Nigeria, commented, “They will not pour sand in their garri. God will continue to water their lives the way they water the garri. Their union will have milk and honey, even though they didn’t use honey, sweet like sugar, which they put.”
