Akeem Omolade found dead in Italy

Akeem Omolade, a Nigerian footballer has been found dead inside his car in Italy.

Daily Report Nigeria gathered that the former Torino striker was found dead just a few days after complaining of leg pain.

His unresponsive body was found by emergency services in his Peugeot car in Palermo, the capital city of Sicily on Monday, June 13.

A preliminary examination indicated no external injuries on his body.

Omolade represented Torino in the Italian Serie A between 2001-2003, making a total of five appearances.

The Kaduna-born striker also played for Treviso, Novara, Reggiana and a host of other clubs before hanging his boots in 2017.

Torino President, Urbano Cairo in a statement on Tuesday, consoled the family of the deceased, saying;

‘The entire Torino family sends its deepest sympathies to his loved ones, his parents, and his many friends.’

‘Omolade spoke out against racism after being targeted by a group of the club’s ‘ultras’.
