Yahaya Bello’s Ally, Ododo Emerges APC Governorship Candidate in Kogi
Alhaji Ahmed Ododo has emerged as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Kogi State.
According to the Secretary of the Kogi APC Primary Election Committee, Patrick Obahiagha, Ododo scored 78, 704 votes to beat six other contestants.

Obahiagha, who announced the result of the governorship primary on Friday in Lokoja, said Salami Momodu got 1,506 votes, Abubakar Yahaya-Ashemogu, 1,159, and Shaaibu Abubakar-Audu, 763 votes.
He added that Stephen Ocheni garnered 552 votes, Sanusi Ohiere, 424, and Smart Adeyemi 311 votes.
Obahiagha said that out of the 93,729 voters, 83,419 who were accredited, voted for candidates of their choice.
“Ododo, having scored the majority of the lawful votes cast at the direct primary election conducted on April 14, 2023, in Kogi, is hereby declared the winner of the APC primary election 2023.
“Ahmed Usman-Ododo is hereby returned as the duly elected governorship candidate of APC for the November 2023 governorship election,” he said.
Obahiagha congratulated party leaders and members for the peaceful primary election.
The committee secretary also thanked Gov. Yahaya Bello, for making the democratic process possible.
Timipre Sylva Wins Bayelsa APC Guber Primaries
The Former Governor of Bayelsa State, Timipre Sylva has won the state’s All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship election.
Sylva emerged the party’s flagbearer having secured a total of 52,061 votes, beating Hon Great Joshua MacIver with 2,078 votes, Chief David Lyon who had 1582 votes; Prof Ongoebi Etebu with 1277, Mrs Ikisima Ogbomade securing 584, and Festus Daumiebi who came fourth with 557 votes.
APC Candidate, Ibrahim Bomai Wins Yobe South Senatorial Seat
Ibrahim Bomai of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has won the senatorial seat for the Southern part of Yobe State.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) through its Returning Officer, Abatcha Melemi of the Federal University Gashua declared Bomai as senator-elect of Yobe South.
During the declaration in Potiskum, Melemi revealed that Bomai scored 69,596 votes deafing his rival, Halilu Mazagane of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who had 68,885.
For African Democratic Congress, ADC’s Yerima Adamu, Melemi said the candidate scored 652 votes, and Jauro Ishaku of the Labour Party(LP) scored 471 votes.
While Isa Musa of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP scored 3,277 votes, with Maisambo Barde of the Young Progressives Party, YPP scored 448 in the supplementary election after INEC had declared the February 25 election inconclusive.
INEC had cancelled the Polling Unit 003 results in Manawaci in Fika Local Government Area and rescheduled for a rerun on Saturday, 15 April 2023.
The senator-elect said:
“I, Abatcha Melemi, the returning officer for the 2023 Yobe South senatorial district election, held on April 15, declares that Bomai Ibrahim Mohammed of the APC, having satisfied the requirements of the law, is hereby declared as the winner and is returned elected.
“We are overwhelmed and filled with joy for the resilience and tenacity shown by the multitude of our good people of Yobe South in giving me a second mandate.”
Peace in Sight as Ayiri Emami Meets Olu of Warri
The long feud between Chief Ayiri Emami and the Itsekiri royal palace could soon be history going by recent developments.
This is as the embattled Ologbotsere met with the Olu of Warri, Ogiame III on the invite of the monarch.
Fresh Angle International reports that the peace process was set up by the Iyatsere of Warri, Chief Johnson Atseruleghe, the Uwangue of Warri, Chief Gabriel Awala, other prominent Chiefs of the kingdom.
Also, former Governor of Delta State, Dr. Emmanuel Ewetan Uduaghan, former President of Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN/ Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, PFN, Papa Ayo Oritsejafor and ex – member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Daniel Reyenieju, formed a part of prominent Itsekiri indigenes that were present when Chief Ayiri honoured the invite of the Olu, on Friday.
The closed door peace – building meeting held at the palace of the Olu in Warri and stretched between 4pm and 8:20pm, with a mammoth crowd waiting for a possible positive outcome.
The publication reports that the Olu had invited the Ayiri to a meeting two weeks ago after a traditional rite performance at Ogbowuru hall in Ode – Itsekiri. However, the politician cum businessman could not honor the invitation immediately due to preparations for a foreign trip.
On arrival in Warri on Friday, chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), honoured the invite of the monarch in company of the Akulagba of Warri Kingdom, Chief Omamuli.
The meeting is thought to be establishing the peace process between the Ologbotsere of Warri Kingdom and the royal palace.
Addressing supporters after the meeting, Ayiri said the Olu has invited the Ologbotsere family to a meeting at the palace on l Sunday, April 16 for the necessary traditional
The process is expected to bring all legal litigations involving both parties.
How Tiwa Savage Was Almost Kidnapped — Kemi Olunloyo
Popular journalist Kemi Olunloyo has said that there was an attempt to kidnap popular singer Tiwa Savage.
Kemi revealed the incident happened on Thursday, April 13, in Lagos.
According to the journalist, Tiwa Savage’s new driver conspired with others by giving out the singer’s information.
She explained that the domestic staff’s co-conspirators had been trailing the singer since she left home for days.
However, the kidnappers were unlucky as vigilante-style private security napped them.
Kemi said the culprits were eventually handed to the police at CID Alagbon in Ikoyi
While assuring that the mother of one was okay and in seclusion, Kemi added that the police would brief the media with details shortly.
