Former Chief Security Officer General Sani Abacha, Hamza Al-Mustapha has pointed out the set of Nigerians responsible for insecurity in the country.

In an interview with VOA Hausa on Wednesday, Al-Mustapha said wealthy Nigerians with access to sophisticated weapons and hard drugs are the cause of insecurity in Nigeria.

2. No Plans to Eliminate my Client – Sunday Igboho’s Lawyer

Yomi Aliyu, one of the lawyers to Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Igboho, has denied being in the know of any plans by the federal government to eliminate his client.

Aliyu made stated this while reacting to claims by Olayomi Koiki, Sunday Igboho’s spokesman that the activist faces assassination.

Koiki also alleged that Sunday Igboho would not be released by any judicial process.

4. ASUU to Sue AAU Over Verification

The Academic Staff Union of Universities in Ambrose Ali University, Ekpoma, has threatened to sue the school authority over an alleged dehumanization of its members.

The union also berated the school authorities over the recently conducted biometric verification exercise that was fraught with irregularities and inconclusiveness.

The union in a 30-day notice of legal action to the AAU authorities also asked Governor Obaseki to put a stop to the wastage of meager resources by the Special Intervention Team.

5. Former FC Porto Coach Jose Peseiro Appointed Super Eagles Coach

Jose Peseiro, a former coach of FC Porto has been announced as the new coach of the Super Eagles by the Nigerian Football Federation.

The appointment of the former Braga and Al Ahly coach follows the sacking of Gernot Rohr a two weeks ago.

6. Eguavoen to Lead Super Eagles at AFCON 2022

The Nigerian Football Federation has confirmed that interim coach Austin Eguavoen would be in charge of the team at the African Cup of All Nations in Cameroon.

The confirmation followed the appointment of Jose Peseiro as the new head coach of the Super Eagles.

According to a memo, Eguavon will remain as head coach until after the tournament, which kicks off on January 9, 2022.

7. Kidnappers of Plateau Monarch Demands N500 Million Ransom

Kidnappers of Charles Mato, the Paramount Ruler of Gindri in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State have demanded for a N500 million ransom.

This was disclosed by Major-General Ibrahim Ali on Wednesday in Jos, the Plateau State capital.

The General Officer Commanding (GOC), 3 Division, Nigerian Army, Rukuba, near Jos, also disclosed that his troops have arrested some suspects in connection with the crime.

8. Bandits Kill Many, Kidnap Many Others in Zamfara

Alhaji Umar Bawan-Allah, the District Head of Gada town in Bungudu Local Government Area of Zamfara State has been killed by bandits.

The slain traditional ruler was killed alongside four others have been on Wednesday.

Many others were also, mostly women and children were also kidnapped during the attack.

The palace of the District Head and many other houses and properties were set ablaze by bandits.

9. Police Arrests Notorious Bandit, Maiyammata

Police Tactical Operatives in Zamfara, have arrested a notorious bandit known as Maiyammata.

He was arrested while trying to kidnap passengers at Koliya, within Zurmi Local Government Area during a patrol by the operatives.

The Zamfara State Commissioner of Police, Ayuba Elkanah, said the suspect’s accomplices are being trailed by the police as well.

10. FG Approves N185bn Dualization of Itu, Calabar Highway

The Senior Special Assistant to President Mohammadu Buhari on Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Ita Enang, has said the Federal Government has approved the total sum of One Hundred and Eighty-Five Billion Naira, (N185bn) for the Construction as well as the dualization of Itu/ Calabar highway.
The Federal road which links Akwa Ibom and Cross River States was awarded to Julius Berger at N54b, CCECC at N52.2b and SEMATECH at N79b.

Enang disclosed this on Wednesday while inspecting the progress of work at the road.
